"The missionary heart:
- Cares more than some think is wise
- Risks more that some think is safe
- Dreams more than some think is practical
- Expects more than some think is possible.
from Lives Given, Not Taken: 21st Century Southern Baptist Martyrs, by Erich Bridges and Jerry Rankin
I've been thinking, since I have children serving as missionaries, that we all are missionaries. It's easy to romanticize going to another country and serving but what about right where I am. Do I see my present life as being on mission? Why do we miss going across the street and dream of going around the world? Missions tend to get messy in real life and I need to get my hands dirty today right here and right now.

Our lives are a mission field, every day that we are in the work place or at school...it is our responsibility to minister to the people currently in our lives. Looking at the characteristics of a missionary's heart, I wonder do I have those characteristics towards the people I'm ministering to?
Does Christ minister to them every time I see them?
Is Christ making a true impact through me, or is my faith to small to make a differance?
Today will become yesterday...today, will I have made an impact?
I think about these questions constantly...trying to see God's perspective on my life. I've learned to take one day at a time, taking hold of every opportunity that crosses my path. -Carpe Diem-
